Four years ago my husband who had dementia had to have carers while I was away for two weeks. I rang the agency every day to make sure he was being looked after, they assured me he was. They did the washing (no ironing of his shirts), sheets and duvet covers just pushed into the cupboard.
When I came home I couldn't find his blister packs of tablets and I immediately rang the agency to check where they were. I was told that the tablets had got into a muddle because my husband was 'self medicating' and they were taken to the office. He hadn't been given tablets for about three days they thought. Luckily he survived this gross negligence and lived until 2022.
