Dr said pain was because I'm a woman

Ten years ago I suddenly had terrible pain in my back, so bad I was fainting with the pain. I went to the doctor who couldn't find anything wrong. This went on for a few weeks with him giving me stronger and stronger painkillers even Pregabolin which is a morphine based drug. I asked to be referred to a consultant , he told me there was nothing a consultant could tell me that he couldn't, the pain was because I was a woman of a certain age.

I rang lots of private hospitals and was given a cancellation in a hospital in a city the following evening. Within five minutes of examining me the consultant told me I had a trapped nerve in my neck and would need an operation as soon as possible. I had to have two operations and since then I have had no more pain.

Needless to say I have changed doctors practices.
